Bio
Steve Read was born in London. He got his first guitar at age 4 and never looked back. Once in America, he became a studio musician in Phoenix. There he met and played with acts like Santana, Toto, Jeff Beck, and Jean-Luc Ponty amongst others. He is married to his artist wife Mary Anne, and compsoes every note he plays himself on various instruments. The only cover he has ever done is' Destiny' at the request of his friend Misa and Zero-7. He listens too much to Boards Of Canada, Rammstein and Beck. Pat Metheny is a god to him. He currently lives in what he calls 'cover band hell' and refuses to play in public for that reason. Perhaps the only thing worse than 'playing' a winery is getting a gig on a cruise ship where drunk rich people call out requests that remind them of that time they peaked in high school. In other words musical death.

Improvisation - the endless search for the right phrase. Jazz dogs like to blow scales, and trade fours, but true improvisation comes from getting inside a song.
